There was a deffinite chill to the air, one that had nothing to do with her. It followed and swelled around her, permeating her bones and making her want to shiver. She didn't by sheer force of will, but only because she was in Hell where it was hotter then hot despite this and because she was technically in enemy territory. No, she hadn't air this magnified since Adam and Eve ate the apple from the Tree of Knowledge and He'd banished them; this didn't bode well.
Gabriel was careful not to draw any attention to herself as she wandered the halls of the Malebolge, instinct driving her to the throne room where most of this whole mess had begun. Her expression was guarded as she pushed the door open, blue eyes scanning the empty room as she stepped inside. Funny, she'd thought he'd be here...
"What the hell am I thinking coming here when I know he's so freakin' mad?" she muttered to herself, padding up to the large throne that Lucifer ruled from with an iron fist. Almost without thinking, she ran a finger down the length of one of the arms almost absently.

“I would ask the same question,” came Lucifer’s voice from behind the arch-angel. He had appeared there, seemingly out of nowhere. His eyes flashed red and his arms crossed over his chest as he observed the angel.
How long had it been since they two of them were in the same room together? Perhaps it had been much too long. The devil was in no mood to go over normal speaking. No hellos. No how-are-you. Lucifer was in no mood to really talk about how the angel was or what she was up to. Truly, he was in no mood to talk to her.
“And what exactly are you thinking? Coming here to my throne uninvited.”

She managed by the grace of God to not jump like a frightened child, spinning to face him with narrowed eyes instead of wide ones. "I don't think you should be talking to me about 'dropping in uninvited' when you do it all the time," was her curt reply. It was decided that it would be a good idea not to mention that she had always dropped in like this prior to the whole 'mating like rabbits' incident out of self-preservation. If the look in his eyes was any indication, she would be a smoking pile of ash if things didn't go smoothly. "I came to talk to you," she said after a pause.

“Then, you should start talking, Gabriel,” Lucifer said, eying her suspiciously. His stance was rather tense as he shifted his balance on his feet. His eyes glared at the angel relentlessly. He was rather annoyed with the arch-angel for reasons that he assumed she knew of.
“You better move your tongue fast, too,” Satan said to her. “My patience is rather short.”

"Just liked your man-bits," she muttered in a way that was very reminiscent of a certain violet-eyed human. The look she gave him screamed innocence, but one could tell how very satisfied her words made her feel if they looked into her eyes. "I don't see why you're so upset about it. Even before you pledged celebacy to everyone except me, you were still going out and doing the deed. Hell, we've been together all of three times anyway, and you got me pregnant one of those times."
She'd lost her point somewhere along the argument, but it was clear that she was indignant. The fact that he was mad at her for sleeping with someone else (who just happened to be someone they both knew and he had slept with before numerous times himself) was just a little unfair considering he'd been the only one she'd been with anyways. Gabriel couldn't begin to count the number of partners he'd had since the Fall, so she tried not to.

“It’s easy to have to beat a dog who has always been disobedient than to have to accept a mistake from one who has always been so obedient and loyal,” Lucifer said before looking away from Gabriel. He walked the width of the room. The flames in the room sparked up with his anger.
If Lucifer trusted anyone, it was Gabriel. He was blinded by how much he truly did love and care for her. He trusted the arch-angel over all of his minions that he had known for thousands of years. For her to step out of that line of trust by even an inch was a smack in the face.
“I trusted you, Gabriel.”

That took her by surprise, but she didn't show just how much. If he really did trust her, then she would have to start feeling guilty, and Gabriel hated feeling guilty about anything she did because it really was her decision to make. Just because Lucifer was being the 'good husband' didn't mean she had to be the 'good wife'. She crossed her arms over her chest defiantly, feeling hot in the wool sweater she'd donned early this morning. "Don't compare me to one of your minions Lucifer, I have a mind of my own," she sniffed and ignored the scare tactics he was employing. They were in Hell, not on Earth, so he could blow up as many things as he wanted; she would not be moved. "How is it okay for you gor you go out and sleep with Narcis or Lilith or, for argument's sake, Asher, but I get called the local whore as soon as I stray from the Universe's Biggest Pimp himself? I didn't even have sex to begin with until you decided it would be fun to seduce me, so don't get all Holier-Then-Thou on me. It's unbecoming."

“I am not calling you a whore,” Lucifer snapped, turning to Gabriel with eyes on fire. “My nature has been suppressed. I have stopped sleeping with whomever comes into my vision. I do that for you and only you. You know I just want to be with you, Gabriel. No one else interests me.”
The devil felt on fire as he continued to stare at the angel. She was not a game to him, now. She was someone he loved, and someone who he had so carelessly trusted. He did not think that pins would be jabbed into his heart because of the arch-angel.
“You knew how much it would hurt me, but yet you did it. You knew, Gabriel.”

"I didn't," she admitted. It was the honest to God truth, and he knew more then anyone that she didn't lie. The most she would do is withhold the truth, but she never lied. "I didn't even think you would care. You've always treated me the same way a spoiled child treats a toy he doesn't really play with: you leave me alone for the most part, but as soon as someone else plays with me, you get jealous and start breaking things. So forgive me my lack of insight into the matter."
And it was only thanks to the fact that Lucifer got such a huge kick out of Ash and that she was her guardian angel now that the girl was still alive. Though that didn't mean that the human couldn't handle by herself anyways; she had a way with the demon that Gabriel honestly admired.

The devil looked away from the arch-angel, anger marring his features. “Well, at least you admit to not thinking about me,” Lucifer said, closing his eyes tightly as if that would calm him down. It didn’t, of course. The darkness behind his eyelids was filled with images of Gabriel with Asher which was definitely one of the last things he wanted to see.
Honestly, Lucifer did not want to think of the arch-angel with anyone else but him. He could not explain the emotions that had befallen him because of her. He could only imagine that this was how possessive humans felt over the ones they were with.
“Well, I think I have a reason to be upset,” Lucifer said, looking back to Gabriel. “With all the people out there you choose her.”

"At least it was Asher. You would have killed them had it been anyone else," she snapped. Okay, so she had been in the wrong-she could admit to that. But he didn't have to keep rubbing salt in the wound! "Why is it that Ian is the one who seems to have no problem with our 'infidelity' and you're the one with a bug up the butt? I thought you would be the one who was going to be alright and he would be the one to give Asher the cold shoulder."

“You know why I have such a problem with it, Gabriel,” Lucier said, looking away from the angel once more. “How many people do you think I trust? How many people do you think I love? Over thousands and thousands of years of existence, I have trusted no one. And once I give my trust to someone, they abuse it.”

"I loved you once," she said after a brief silence. Her eyes skittered away and firmly locked her gaze on the ground, seemeingly embarassed by the admission. "I trusted you too. Then you tried to kill me for the sake of your ideals. You ripped my heart out Lucifer, I think it's only fair I rip yours out too."
She didn't mean it. As cold as Gabriel could be, she wasn't cruel, but this arguement was starting to wear her down; there was no way to apologize even if she was sorry. She was an adult and always took her options into consideration before making a decision, even if that meant hurting others-she was her own person afterall. The fact that Lucifer would mind had just never crossed her mind was all it was, since he was so well-known for sleeping with anything that moved. And now that the guilt was starting to creep in, she wasn't going to regret it.
Besides, it had been a meaningless one night stand. She wasn't going to ditch him for a human female.

Lucifer shook his head now, turning back to the angel. It always came back to this. Always his leaving of heaven. His rebellion. This was not what he wanted to hear, now. His rebelling from heaven had nothing to do with Gabriel, yet she would make it.
“Times have changed,” the devil snapped. “I want to be with you. I have been trying desperately to be with you, yet you push me away. Everything you do is to shove me away from you. I love you and our children, and I am trying to do everything that I can to make all of you happy.”

"You think I don't know that? That I'm so oblivious that I haven't noticed how you're trying to do right by me and the children?" she hissed, turning to face him once more with dark, swirling eyes. There were too many emotions hiding in them to discern any one, but it was clear she was trying very hard to stay mad at him. No matter how much he hurt her, and she hurt him, she would always love him like she had back then. "I didn't ask you to suddenly grow some balls and be the good guy-I would have survived if you hadn't. But you suddenly dropping your 'bad-boy' routine throws me off, so I feel like I have to go out and make you mad on purpose! Even if I do love you, it feels like we're poisoning eachother Lucifer!"
